The Mildred D. Brown Memorial Study Center provides scholarships to students interested in pursuing journalism degrees in post-secondary institutions. These students will go on to obtain careers in the field of journalism and broadcasting and will continue providing news and media in the spirit of Mildred Brown. We will soon announce the details of the 2020 application process.
HELEN JONES WOODS AND WILLIAM “BILL” WOODS SCHOLARSHIP
Amount – Up to $2,500.00
Major -Journalism/Communications
- Full time freshman through senior African-American female student enrolled in an accredited university/college/community college pursing advanced studies in the fields of communications and journalism including print, television, radio, video production and all aspects of internet-based media.

- 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

MARY BURDEN GOLDSTON SCHOLARSHIP
Amount – Up to $5,000.00

- Full time freshman through senior African-American female student enrolled Hampton University pursing advanced studies in the fields of communications and journalism which includes print, television, radio, video production and all aspects of internet-based media.
